Cambrigde 7 - test 2 - Writing task 1

"The graph above shows the consumption of fish and some different kinds of mear in a European country between 1979 and 2004.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant."

The graph compares how many grams of fish and 3 separate types of meat were consumed per week by a person in a European country over a course of 25 years starting from 1979.
Looking at the graph, it is immediately obvious that the consumption of beef, lamb and fish experienced a downward trend with the exception of chicken over the time frame. Also, the amount of fish was lowest during the given period.
In 1979, beef’s consumption registered the highest among the four, standing at approximately 220 grams per person per week. Then, this number saw a substantial fluctuation between 1979 and 1984, before declining sharply to above 100 grams in 2004. Similarly, a downward trend was witnessed in the amount of lamb, as it stood at 150 grams in 1979 and decreased slightly to 60 grams, despite some fluctuations in the middle of the course.
By contrast, there was a significant increase in the consumption of chicken which reached the peak of 250 grams in 2004. During the 25 years period, fish’s consumption remained stable.
