The consumption of margarine, butter and low-fat spreads in a country from 1981 to 2007
The line graph illustrates 3 forms of spreads which was consumed over a period of 26 years. Units are measured in grams
As can be notably seen, the amount of butters and margarine shown a sharply decline. While the lowfat and reduced spreads' figure only appeared in the middle of 1996.
In 1981, the consumption of butters was about 140 grams and was the most popular spreads. While the amount of margarine consumed was only around 90 grams. However, the rate of butter consumption was soon decreased and was replaced by the margarine with 100 grams in 1996. At the same time, the figure for lowfat suddently appeared but only 10 grams of that was consumed.
However, 3 figures were all experienced a plunge in 2007, where margarine was the lowest with only 40 grams. Strikingly, butter was almost hit the top of the chart before revealing a drop in 1986.
