The maps illustrate how West Park Secondary School had transformed over the period from 1950 to 2010. The general overview here is that after 60 years, eventhough there were many changes happened, the main road and the school stayed unchanged.
In specification, in 1980, several houses, which were sited next to the school, had been replaced by a car park and a science block. Moreover, while the playground had seen a steadiness between 1950 and 1980, the farmland had been removed to give way to a sport field located beside the play ground.
To compare, in 2010, although all the facilities still existed, there were several movement in this area. In detail, the old sport field was relocated to a smaller new one, which took a part of the playground. Therefore, the play ground was narrowed to make room for the extension of the car park, whereas the science block kept stable.
In conclusion, all the changes were the catalyst for the deterioration of recreational areas in the school.
