Overall, it is clear from the graph that people aged 16-24 in London registered the highest rate of adult unemployment in England over the period shown. Another interesting point is that the general trend was downward for all 4 categories mentioned for the first half of the time period.
in 1993, the unemployment percentage of 16-24- year-olds from london stood at over 20%, about 5% higher than people of the same category of age from rest of england.Stimuntaneously, the overall unemployment rate in London and England were slightly lower, at about 15% and 10% respectively. 4 categories then experienced a gradual decline to their lowest point at no more than 15%.
In addition, there was a steady growth that bucked the trend at the end of the period with
the number of 16-24-year-olds living in London and the rest of England soaring to 25% and 20% respectively. By contrast, there were only around 8% unemployed people for each of the two regions, overall London and rest of England.
