The bar chart compares the proportion of students passing their exams by subject and gender from 2010 to 2011.
Overall, almost the percentage of girls passing exams was higher than their boy counterparts.
As we can see from the chart, the biggest gender difference was in Computer Science, where a hefty 56.3% of girls passing this exam in comparison with just over four out of 10 boys respondent. Interestingly, this subject had the highest pass rate amongst girls. Results for boys and girls were roughly comparable in both Foreign languages and Mathematics, each constituted nearly half. A slightly higher percentage of girls (36.7%) reported passing Physics exam. To turn to History, for girls it was just over a quarter while for boys the figure was nearly 23%. Twice as many girls as boys passed Chemistry exam, 30.2% for the former and 14.1% for the latter. Only when it came to Geography, the percentage of boys passing this exam was higher than that of girls (30.4% and 20.1% respectively).
