The given diagram depicts environmental problems raised by an item over it life cycle.
Overall, there are four main phases in the life cycle of a manufactured product, consisting of being designed, produced, distributed to markets and used by the customers.
In the first stage of the life cycle, the designers decide the types, models, sizes and materials needed for the product's manufacturing process. Then, companies consume massive amount of raw materials and energy resources so as to produce the planned items.
After being produced at the factory, the product is then packaged and channeled to markets and shops, where it would be purchased by consumers. Having been used for a certain time, the item can either be left to dispose or be recycled into materials needed for the manufacturing process in the first phase. In the final stage, the customers send the companies feedbacks, and the cycle starts again.
