Using language in propaganda slogans of the covid-19 epidemic
By the end of 2021, Vietnam has controlled the covid-19 epidemic and initially returned to adapt to the "new normal" in the prevention of the covid-19 epidemic. Analyzing propaganda slogans, on the one hand, is to show the relationship between language and cultural elements contained in propaganda slogans. On the other hand, it contributes to affirming the role of applied language in the practice of social life, especially its effective contribution in communicating the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic to the entire population. The author will collect, synthesize and classify slogans issued by the Ministry of Health and agencies in Ho Chi Minh City through communication channels and mass media during the prevention and control period covid-19 pandemic. From the cross-cultural approach, the author will conduct data analysis using the linguistic-cultural method to see the structure method and semantic characteristics. As well as the influence of culture on the structure and semantics of propaganda slogans during this period. The results will be the basis for proposing linguistic-cultural solutions in building persuasive, scientific, and appropriate propaganda slogans about the cultural characteristics of each object and each locality. Understanding the relationship between language and culture will help use propaganda slogans to maximize their function.
