The given bar chart illustrates the frequency of fast food consumption of US residents within a ten-year interval, from 2003 to 2013.
Overall, the majority of US customers had a tendency to eat processed food on a monthly basis while only a minority of them hardly ate any junk food within the given period.
To begin with, it is recorded that just under 5% of US consumers either had their meal at fast food restaurants daily or never tasted fast food in the given decade, occupying the smallest portions in comparison with other counterparts. This figure was three times lower than that of those who rarely tried fast food. In addition, the proportions of US people who sometimes ate fast food in 2003 and 2013 shared a similar number (about 16%), followed by that in 2006 with the figure standing at almost 20%.
Turning to the other part of data, there was a slight rise of just about 3% in the percentage of US residents, who consumed processed food on a weekly basis from 2003 to 2006. This figure then dropped to approximately 27% in 2013. On the other hand, despite witnessing a noticeable decline of 5% in the first three years, the proportion of consumers in the US who purchased fast food once or twice a month climbed significantly to 33%, becoming one of the largest share within the period.
