Some people object to government spending taxpayers’ money on the arts, such as paintings and sculptures in public places, because they believe there are higher priorities for public spending. What’s your opinion?

Some people have argued that government should not allocate money for arts in public locations. From my perspective, I take a dim view of it on the basis of the following reasons.
In the first place, arts have a positive influence on individuals, especially entertainment and a sense of pride. State budgets should not only be used for erecting hospitals or schools, but also for art galleries as well on the grounds that residents require some places to alleviate stress. Supposing that there is no existence of arts in life, people will live in monotony. As a consequence, the government has to provide financial support for establishing more and more places for paintings or sculptures. This might facilitate the mental life of people a lot. The additional point is that government funding for arts make humans themselves proud due to the fact that there are a multitude of works of art that provide memorials, namely statues of leaders, soldiers, or scientists.
The second point to take into consideration is that offering financial assistance to arts means an economic investment. A good many kinds of arts are the identity of one country; accordingly, numerous tourists may come to enjoy, which boosts the economic potential. This is illustrated by the fact that Vietnam is well-known for ceramics and pottery. The ideal place to have a glimpse of the country’s rich ceramic art form is Bat Trang Ceramic Village. The other option is that visitors might go to Hoi An’s Ancient Town to experience the beauty of ceramic products. As a result, spending money on arts is not a waste of the budget, but extensive revenues for the government.
To recapitulate, the promotion of works of art is as much a priority as any other, so it is understandable for government to give money to the arts.
