The table shows the amount of waste production (in millions of tonnes) in six different countries in three dofferent years over a twenty-year period.
The amounts of waste produced in six countries between 1980, 1990, and 2000 have been illustrated in the chart. It clearly stated that the US had the highest number of producing waste, more than Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, and Portugal combined. However, it is evident that by 2000, Korea was the only state to have successfully reduced its waste output.
The US's waste output rose from 131 to 192 million tonnes between 1980 and 2000. Moreover, the rising numbers were also seen in Japan, where waste production increased gradually from 28 to 53 million tonnes. In the same case, waste output continued to rise in Poland and Portugal from 4 to 6.6 and from 2 to 5 million tonnes respectively.
On the other side, Ireland reported a significant increase in waste output from 0.6 million tonnes in 1980 to 5 million tonnes in 2000, eight times bigger in 20 years. Otherwise, Korea succeeded in decreasing its waste output by 12 million tonnes between 1990 and 2000.
