The given bar chart illustrates the fertility rate in Gulf countries over a 10-year period from 1990 to 2000.
At first glance, all of the Gulf countries have a downward trend in their fertility rate. As presented in the graph, smaller countries lie on the border of the Persian Gulf have lower ferility rate than bigger countries. Fertility rate vary greatly according to countries. Oman and Saudi Arabia have the highest fertility rate in all of the Gulf countries at approximately 7 in 1990 compared to around 4 births per woman in Qatar, UAE and 3.5 births per woman in Bahrain, Kuwait. However, b 2000, the rate drop dramatically in all Gulf countries by 25% to 2.5 for Bahrain and Kuwait, 3 for UAE and 20% to 5.5 for Oman and Saudi Arabia. Overall, there is a major decrease in feritily rate of Gulf countries, however, some countries’ fertility rate is two times higher than other countries
