The table provides information regarding the percentage of households owing consumer durables (television, vacuum cleaner, etc.) in Britain from 1972 to 1983.
Overall, we can observe a growing adoption of consumer durables among the populace. The dishwasher was the least used at circa 5, whose utilization started in the year 1978, and television was the most used product among others in the given period. Video usage is seen only in the year 1983 when 18 percent of citizens used it in their routine.
Though increasing over the years, some durables saw a growth of over 25 percent, whereas some others witnessed a growth of hardly around 10 percent. Central heating and telephone adoption raised sharply with a percentage difference of over 25 from around 30-39 and 42, in the year 1972 to 64 and 77 in the year 1983, respectively.
Television and vacuum cleaners saw a growth of less than 10 percent changing from 93 and 87 in the initial years to 98 and 95 in the final years, respectively. Refrigerators and washing machines had a surge of over 10 percent from 73 and 66 to 94 and 80, respectively, in the given 11-year period.
