The bar chart shows the percentage of the gender distribution of teachers in various types of educational organisations in the UK in 2010
In two of the six organisations, the proportion of female teachers outnumbered the proportion of male teachers. Women made up a particularly large proportion of the organisation related to lower education: nursery or pre-school and primary school. The gender gap for nursery and primary school is similar. There were nine times as many female teachers as male teachers.
On the other hand, in private training institute and university, men surpassed women, especially in the university, where there were 70 per cent of men compared to 50 per cent of women. Men and women were equally represented in college, which is 50 per cent.
Overall, the bar chart shows that nursery, primary and secondary schools continue to be female-dominated; however, men have a significant presence in private training institute and university, where there were equal gender distribution in college.
