The graph shows information about the number of people in Australia who use Chinese, Arabic, Italian and Greek as their first language.

The chart below illustrates how many people learn Chinese, Arabic, Italian and Greek first in Australia.

Overall, while the number of people in Australia who use Chinese as their first language saw a significant increase, the opposite was true for Greek learners. In addition, the number of learners in this area who learn Italian first was the lowest in this period.

As can be seen from the graph, Chinese learners in Australia was about over 100.000 people in 1986, followed by a significant grow to 350.000 people in 2011. Meanwhile, the number of people use Arabic as their first language in Australia also saw a slight increase to 150.000 people over 25 years from about 50.000 people in 1986.

Talking to two language remains, both Greek and Italian saw a gradual drop in the number of learners. In 1986, Greek learners in Australia started at over 200.000 persons, but later droping gradually to below 20.000 people over 25 years. This situation was also true for Italian users, after decreased slightly from 150.000 people to 100.000 beetween 1986 and 2006, it stayed at the same in 2011.
