The maps illustrate a number of changes which took place in Frenton over the period of twenty-two years starting from 1990.
Overall, Frenton witnessed radical changes with the most noticeable being facilities and buildings.
On the left-hand side of High Street, it can be seen that library and school remain unchanged after twenty-two years. Although the hospital was still kept , it saw a dramatic expansion.In 1990, hospital was directly opposite playing fields with trees; but this place was replaced by blocks of flats in 2012. A number of trees were chopped down to construct a technopark while the bank was demolished to make the way for a restaurant.
On the other side of High Street, Frenton experienced the disappearance of flats to create a larger space. Moreover, the cafe and park was demolished to make a way for a new hotel and golf course. The cinema and supermarket were built and replaced the theatre and shops, respectively.Besides, on the east side of Frenton there used to be a house there, but it was replaced by blocks of flats in 2012.
