The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now.
The given picture illustrates how a central library has changed over the course of 20 years.
Generally, all previous areas of the library were transformed to offer diverse services besides book-related activities, resulting in the disappearance of several facilities and the introduction of new ones. However, the total size of the library remained unchanged.
In the Western part of the library, there was a replacement of the old reading room with a computer room. Besides, the area devoted to adult fiction books is now filled with all reference books. Moreover, the room used for the storage of CDs, videos and computer games became a larger room where storytelling events are held and children’s fiction books can be found.
In the updated design, two sets of tables and chairs were put in the middle of the library. Meanwhile, in the East, children’s books were taken out to make room for lectures while an information desk and self-service machines were added to the space used for adult fiction books. Finally, there was the construction of a cafe in the same area as the old enquiry desk.
