The table below shows the percentage of employers in various sectors having difficulty in finding staff in 2003 and 2004.
The table below depicts the percentages of employers in various sectors facing difficulty in recruiting staff for the years 2003 and 2004. Overall, it is evident that enrolling technical and managerial staff was easier than finding both skilled and unskilled workers. Moreover, the most significant issue was the difficulty in finding skilled workers.
Regarding skilled and unskilled workers, the challenge of finding skilled workers increased slightly by around 4% to 6% across all sectors, except for the commerce sector, where figures decreased from 47% to 41%. A similar pattern emerged in the change in the percentage of employers encountering difficulty in recruiting unskilled workers. The manufacturing sector saw an increase from 26% to 28%, the building sector experienced a rise from 21% to 23%, and the services sector observed an uptick from 20% to 29%. Conversely, there was a decline in the figures for the commerce sector.
Turning to technical and managerial staff, the most significant decrease occurred in the building sector, where the percentage dropped by 4% in 2004. The manufacturing and commerce sectors experienced a decrease of the same rate, at a mere 2%, which was 1% smaller than that of the services sector
