The given bar chart presents the percentage of coffee and tea consumption, as well as the drinking habits, in five different cities across Australia over the course of four weeks. Overall, while the number of people visiting cafes varied, the demand for fresh coffee experienced a steady decline throughout the period. Conversely, the consumption of instant coffee exhibited the opposite trend. Nevertheless, the combined percentage of coffee and tea consumed at cafes exceeded that of fresh and instant coffee over the four-week period.
Looking more closely, approximately 60% of the expenditure in Sydney was allocated to visiting cafes, which saw a marginal increase of 3% in Melbourne. However, there was a slight decrease in Brisbane and Adelaide, followed by a substantial rise of approximately 10% in Hobart. The consumption of instant coffee displayed an upward trend in the first three cities, with an increase of around 9%, but experienced a decline of just under 6% in Adelaide before rising again in Hobart.
In contrast, the consumption of fresh coffee showcased a different pattern over the four-week period. In Sydney, approximately 43% of residents purchased fresh coffee, while this figure dropped by more than 8% in Melbourne and Brisbane. The percentage remained relatively stable in Brisbane and Adelaide before experiencing a significant surge of over 35% in Hobart.
