The pie and bar charts below show the percentage of water consumption and use in Australia in 2004.
The pie chart demonstrates the changes that have taken place in the water consumption of various types of consumers in 2004, while the bar chart illustrates how the water was used by residents in that nation.
Overall, residential areas had the highest percentage of using water compared with other groups, including industrial regions, businesses, the government, and others, and most of them consumed water for taking care of their gardens.
Regarding the consumers, 70% of water was consumed by people coming from residential areas, making it the most water-consumed region, followed by 11% by industries and 10% by businesses. Subsequently, the figures from the government and other groups were not as significant as that of residential places, at 6% and 3% respectively.
Going deeper into residential water use, nearly 30% of water was used for gardens and bathrooms, which was roughly three times larger than the percentage of kitchens. Finally, people in these regions utilized 20% of water for washing clothes and 15% for toilet purposes.
