The dangers of smoking is well-known, yet many people still continue smoking. What are the causes of this? How can we reduce it?
According to statistics, approximately 15.6 million adults use tobacco in Vietnam, accounting for 22.5% of the population, making our country the 15th highest tobacco-consuming nation in the world. As we know, the dangers of smoking are well known, yet many people continue with this habit. This is extremely bad, so we need to find the significant solutions to reduce smoking in society. To begin with, we must find out the causes of this.
Firstly, people are addicted to smoking so much and they can’t give up it. Since the first time they smoke, maybe they are just curious and they don’t know its dangers. But tobbaco contains the nicotine, a addictive substance, which can make us become addicted. Gradually, they smoke more and more frequent. Smoking became vital thing in their life. As the habit, they smoke it everyday. After a long smoking time, maybe they understood the dangers of smoking, yet they was addicted to smoking. In addition, they can’t control themselves well. Despite understanding the risk of smoking, they still dive into addiction. Because they don’t have enough will to give up it. For example, everyone always have own their hobby and the smokers are also similar. But it has the good hobbies and the bad hobbies. Finally, the decision still lie sat themselves.
Secondly, government don’t prohibit smoking. In spite of the dangers of smoking, they still allow producing and selling tobacco. If they have banned tobacco at first, the threat of smoking would have been significant now. The rules are not strict , and the authorities at the city, district, and local levels do not care about the dangers of smoking or they are unable to completely prevent it. For instance, at where I Iive, I don’t see any movement or information relevant to prohibiting smoking. Why they don’t ban smoking soon? I think the reason is the tobacco industry creates many jobs for people in the fields of cultivation, production, and sales. Besides, some people believe that smoking is a personal freedom and that the government should not interfere too deeply in individual choices. This prevented the government actions.
Finally, we need the solutions to deal with the dangers of smoking. First, we must be aware of the threat of tobacco by ourselves and avoid exposing with it or give up it perfectly. Besides, the government should be determined in prohibiting smoking and finding the best solution to prevent the dangers of tobacco. For example, the government can give reward to people who don’t smoke. Moreover, they can organize educational programs in schools and communities to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and provide support services for quitting smoking, such as counseling, behavioral therapy, and nicotine replacement therapy.
In conclusion, smoking harms to our health significantly, so we should give up smoking sooner and sooner and shouldn’t try smoking any. Smoking is really so dangerous. We must join hand each other to prevent smoking because of a better, healthier and safer community
