The map below is of the town of Garlsdon. A new supermarket (S) is planned for the town. The map shows two possible sites for the supermarket.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram given shows a map of Garlsdon supermarket plan. There are two proposed sites for the supermarket. Garlsdon is a town with population of 65,000.
According to the key, the residential area is shown by dark grey shade and the industrial area is shaded black. The Town Centre is in the middle of the city and is a no traffic zone. From here the main road divides into three different routes, one towards the North West side and two of them towards the South.
The first possible site for the supermarket is between the railway and the main road heading toward s Hindon. This is located at the periphery of the town, the countryside symbolized by white color. Another site was planned for the supermarket and is located near the Town Centre, very close to the main road as well as the rail road.
Hence, the two given locations are in close proximity to the transport system but the second location has the advantage of being in the middle of the city next to the Town Centre.
