Advertisement plays a major role on TV in developed market economics. Despite the benefits of such information, many people are critical of the role of TV advertising. Write an essay analyzing the positive and negative effects of TV advertisement
It can not be denied that tv has become one of indispensable thing in almost every family. Going with the development of tv is a huge industry about the advertisement with many arguments around it. Some people think advertisement brings a lot of positive effects on society in general and to the economy in specific. On the other hand, some people argue that commercial on tv can bring bad influence on people. In this essay, I will analyze both side arguments.
Firstly, advertisement can bring information to customers about the products, and it leads to the fact that people can enhance their quality of life. Without promotion, the customers will never know about the new products, and oppositely, with the proper promotion, customers will see the existence of new products and information about it. These promotion campaigns bring the benefits not only to the suppliers but also to the customers. With the newest updated products going with the information, people are likely to stay in a great chance to buy suitable products for them. Obviously, these suitable products will improve society's quality of life.
Secondly, with more information about the products, people tend to buy more, and it creates chances for the economy to grow by the increasing demand. Needless to say, people will buy more when they see interesting products even they may not use it. Have you ever come to the mall, and want to buy many beautiful things, and end up you never touch on it? To the side of consumers, it can be bad, but if you look up at the economy side, this will be a positive side. The demand increases will lead to higher economic growth and lower unemployment problem. As a result, society as a whole will benefit from the higher demand coming from advertisement on TV.
Even the undeniable benefits, there are some drawbacks that people should concern about. Although advertisements can give consumers a lot of information, these information are not always correct. The producers sometimes give not real images or information, so the customers are likely to desire it. More seriously, there were some illegal activities that happened on TV. With naive customers, scammers can take a lot of money and not give any products back. The information can be useful, but sometimes people have to consider it very carefully about the truth.
Another drawback from the advertisement is appropriate information to different groups of people. There is diversity type of ads with many products. As a result, advertisements for adult products can appear when kids watch TV. Needless to say, there are some contents that children should not watch at that age, and it may affect the kid's consciousness about events around them. For example, kids can think the cigarette is good when watching the advertisements from it. So when they grow up, they are likely to try it just because they think the cigarette is good. This can be a serious problem if adults do not guide the kids correctly
In conclusion, advertisement can be good and bad for society at the same time. It can be useful for people watching it with the needed products and reasonable budget. Therefore, the demand of the economy can increase and leads to some benefits to the economy, such as lower unemployment. However, we can not reject the drawbacks of advertisements like misleading information or scamming. The positive or negative effect of advertisements will be based on how people use information from that.
