Networking is the ability to establish a network of contacts or a connection with something or someone. This network of contacts is a support system where there is the sharing of services and information between individuals or groups that have a common interest.
Actually, when I started teaching in unizambeze university in 2011, my professional networking was really still very poor. I participated in my first scientific journey as unizambeze teacher in Eduardo Mondlane university, my former university; it’s here where I begin to create my professional networking, in the event participated around 400 participants among students and teacher posing different kind of results of researches. I exchanged more than hundreds of business card, main of them of engineering field, that really matters engineering faculty of unizambeze that I was representing.
One of contact was the dean of Physics department of Mondlane university, two weeks late; he invited me to the APINA, a very strong Network of research in pollution and climate change in Africa. Here I presented my research in Maputo air pollution, for the first time I goat wider and international view in my researches. At least 300 contacts (cell phones and emails) added in my network contacts.
I also invited my former teacher in UEM, and his students to unizambeze in women and gender seminar held in 2015, to boost women presence in many of our sectors, and now unizambeze has admitted 2(two) these group of students (women) from UEM. They are now my colleagues.
The most important aspect in this net of contacts, we share genuine values, we update each other in many aspects as events, seminary, vacancy, scholarships, endorsement if it is necessary and so on. The great example of this it’s about chevening scholarships I am applying now, I knew it through a former uk student, PhD Cumbe, he sent to the network, via email.
Although I think this network contact is working very well with more than 3 housand of contacts, I hope to extend it, principally if I have been admitted to this scholarship by helping and being helped by other professional to know what Chevening is, trough mentoring process and being part of Chevening networking community that is very large and example of networking in the world I guess.
