Many people are against training dolphins to perform in the circus because it may injure these animal. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
It is undeniable that many dolphins are now being forced to perform in the circus. This fact has lead to a strong agument against for training dolphins for the performances since performing in the circus may injure these animals. To my point of view, I totally agree with this opinion.
Dolphins may suffer the harsh treatment in the cirus. Dolphins perform not because they enjoy, but because they are starved. Dolphins were starved until the show during which they were fed as a reward for their performance, and if they can not do the trick correctly, they will be beaten by whips and other weapons. Besides, dolphins injure themselves during the performances, and the chlorinated water worsens their wounds and also makes them slowly lose their sight. In some circuses, people even let the dolphins jumping through rings of fire, which can make their skins affected. Dolphins are “echolocators”, that is they locate objects by emitting sounds and detecting the reflections given back. When they are confined in a small pool they can’t use echo-location. And that is why circus is a very terrible place for dolphins since there are noices like the music, loud and foot-tapping. The loud noise is extremely harmful to the Dolphins which stresses them out. In additionally, is the pool, with its chlorinated water, was where the huge sea mammals should be in? Even people can not stay cooped up in a tiny room day in and day out. I once heard about the information that a mother dolphin in a circus killed her own child so that her child would not have to suffer horrible life in such a place. There are many ways to amuse ourselves other than seeing these lovely creatures performing in public, out of fear and hunger.
In conclusion, each person need to have an action in order to protect these creatures from being harmed. We can make a commitment never to patronise circuses, and ask friends and family not to patronise them either. Circus is nothing more than a prison for poor dolphins and other animals. Beating and using weapons with dolphins is nothing more than a crime. And this crime just can be stopped when people have the awareness of protecting dolphins by action.
