The new telescope
The lecturer starts her lecture by saying that he was already fascinated by science when she was at school. Despite the fact that her science teacher said that such science classes were not right place for girls; this was not encouraging at all as she thinks now. But it was just introductory to start the real topic that is about the space and how people can research it.
Nowadays, telescopes to look into cosmos are situated in remote locations such as, for example, deserts in Chili. When the sun light dims, these areas provide an exquisite view of the night sky full of thousands of starts. If to think why these devices are placed there, we may come to the answer that it is absolutely impossible to research the space in towns or other settlements because of the glare of cities.
Also, it is mentioned that it is just an exaggeration that the most famous Hubble telescope is capable to look into remote and distant pieces of cosmos. By 2018, the GMT is supposed to become a successor of the Hubble. As it will be more powerful and sensitive, it will be able to see not only galaxies and big planet, but also such tiny objects as satellites and dwarfs. This new telescope will comprise several mirrors, and the total square of the telescope will be comparable to an ordinary university lecture room.
By implementing such powerful equipment people will have all odds to learn more about the space.
