Pets should be treated like family members Do you agree or disagree with this statement Give reasons to support your opinion

Almost everybody has a pet in their families; some people treat them like another member of their family while others do not. What are the intangibles that make them to be included like a family member? Therefore, if I had a pet, I would utterly prefer to treat it like my family.

First at all, when a pet is part of the family, they can be a substitute when a family member is absent in order to replace the absence of this member. Furthermore, many pets are adopted by people who for some reasons like infertility they cannot have their own family. Moreover, they can be good company when a family has an only child because they can be friends and play together. For example, my single aunt cannot have any child, for that reason she adopted a cat who has its own bed, clothes and collars, it is like her daughter.

However, pets cannot be treated like family members, not all pets have a fun moment with their owner, fishes for example, they only need food and healthy water to exist. Besides, a pet cannot respond with advice if one is needing to talk with someone else. Also, every pet needs attention and care, hence they are dependent all time from the owner. For instance, my cousin cannot travel with his parents because his puppy cries when there is not anybody at home, so it needs company all the time.
On one hand, there are some pets like fish or hamsters that cannot play or have a fun moment with the owner; nonetheless, they can distract the mind if one needs a break from work. On the other hand, pets cannot express themselves in a conversation, so one cannot get any advice; but, one has a good time playing and hanging out with the pet. By the same token, almost every pet is dependent on their owner; nevertheless, when a person needs to substitute any lack it can serve like good therapy because the attention and love is given to the animal.

To conclude, although a pet can be treated like a family member or not; if I have to pick, I would definitely prefer to treat them as we are family, it is feedback of love and attention.
