TOEFL reading tips
1.DON’T PANIC! Everything you need to answer the questions is there for you.
2.READING FOR COMPREHENSION.
Step 1:Read the first sentence of each paragraph and the last sentence of the selection: Getting an outline.
Step 2: Track the development: Ask yourself about the organization of the selection; ask yourself why the author is doing each important thing in the selection.
Step 3: Read through details: Don’t try to memorize details, try to understand what point is being made; but more important, make sure that you understand the function of the detail in the structure of the selection.
Step 4: Summarize the development: After you’ve finished reading and before you go to the first question, pause to summarize in your mind the development of the selection and the author’s main point.
