Essay topics:

The charts show information about the number of kilometres travelled in an average month and the distribution of vehicles types in Britain.

The line graph compares the number of kilometers traveled and 3 purposes for traveling in the UK; whereas the pie charts illustrate the changes in use of 5 kinds of vehicles during 20 years since 1990 to 2010.

Overall, it is clear that the number of kilometers traveled and types of vehicle changed significantly over the time shown.

In 1990, the kilometers used for transport and delivery was at around 6400 kilometers monthly, then it increased sharply to nearly 8000 in the middle years before experiencing a dramatic drop of approximately 2000 kilometers in the end. Meanwhile, personal travel accounted for over 3000 kilometers, about 1000 kilometers a month higher than commuting purpose. Then, the former witnessed a small rise of about 600 kilometers per month in 2000 before falling to just 3000 in 2010, compared to a gradual increase of approximately 700 kilometers monthly of the latter.

Over 20 years surveyed, private cars accounted for the largest proportion, which was at 63% and 59% in 1990 and 2010 respectively. It was followed by the use of trucks, contributed to around one-fourth over two separate years. Neither buses nor motorbikes were merely used in Britain and the figures for the two dropped slightly to merely under 5% in 2010. Other vehicles accounted for just 2% and 3% in 1990 and 2010 respectively.
