I am writing this email to inform you about an accident that took place in your supermarket “Spinneys” in Hamra Mall due to wet floors near the cold storage units.
I am Jill Smith, a 65-year-old senior citizen living right across the street at Hamilton Estate. I regularly visit your supermarket for buying my weekly grocery.
On 25th July 2019, I had visited your supermarket to purchase some ice-cream. While I was in the Dairy section, I accidentally slipped on wet floors next to Chilling units and had a minor injury on my foot. The area was wet due to water dripping from the chilling cabinets and freezers that store ice creams and dairy products. It had no hazard signage around the spot and looking at the amount of water, it seemed that it was left unattended for some time. It is the responsibility of the supermarkets to make sure that floors are dry and equipment used is repaired and maintained regularly. It would be advisable that the warning signs should have been put up to reduce the risk of such slips. Spillages should be cleaned up as soon as possible and staff should check aisles regularly for any spilt liquids or foods.
