Governments should place few if any restrictions on scientific research and development

Essay topics:

Governments should place few if any, restrictions on scientific research and development

I agree that scientific research shouldn't be restricted. It is the main reason we as humans are able to thrive. If the researchers in the 1900's didn't risk their life stealing cadavers we wouldn't have had modern day anatomy.

Historically speaking, most governments usually don't have the best track record of spending resources on the right areas for research. They tend to rather spend their money on their military rather than space or environment.

However, some might argue that research without restraint can be taken advantage of. People or buisness can start researching in ideas that are profitable but have no use or even be detrimental to mankind. As an example billions of dollars are spent on creating better algorithms to predict the stock market. Money if spent on investing in actual companies would at least create more jobs.

However, we can counter this by making the end goals and certain methods more desirable to do. Like extra funding for research on creating new homes at a cheaper rate.

Rather than placing restrictions, which will end up making it look more desirable. We as the people should incentivize research in areas that benifit us.
