Some people think that cultural traditions may be destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others beleive it is the only way to save these traditions. Discuss on both sides and give your opinion.
It is undoubted that nowadays cultural tour is becoming widespread among tourist, causing a highly debated issue. While some people proclaim that it is beneficial for development of traditions, opponents argue that it poses a danger to culture. Before presenting my own opinion, I will discuss both sides of this issue.
In the modern world, it is common for most countries to use their cultural customs and historical places as a source of tourists income. It caused a mixture of cultures, which has a negative impact in habits and customs of host country. In addition local residents also may adapt to the needs of modern society, in order to maxmize their monetary earnings. For example, many tribes of South America arrange their cultural events only for attracting tourists and nowadays it does not represents any sense.
However, without financial support, it is impossible for government to upkeep and develop these customs. Reconstruction of old buildings and organisation of cultural festivals also require much money, which could be only provided by tourist. It also can be dangerous for culture. Becuase everything has a tendecy to disappear, if nobody interested in it. In addition it also make country famous, providing more attention of tourists and causing the development of economy. Thus, making cultural traditions attractions aimed to tourist can be only way to preserve them.
On the whole, it still remains as unsolved issue, which could be resolved only in a case-by-case basis. However, I tend to believe that using customs as attraction for making money is a good way to develop them, but it should be reasonably boundary between economy and culture.
