Dear Mr. Paul,
I am writing to request for my son David to be absent from school on Friday to enable him attend my brother's wedding which will take place in Las Vegas next Saturday.
My brother will be getting married to his girl-friend after a six-year relationship. The couple have asked David to join their bridal train as a page-boy. The wedding will be taking place in Las Vegas, which is a six-hour flight away from Virginia. To ensure we arrive on time for the events scheduled for the wedding, I have decided that our family will travel on Friday. Consequently, we are request for your permission for David to be away from school for one day.
Realizing that his second term examinations are coming up soon, I have discussed with Mr. Roberts, David's teacher, to plan an extra hour of lessons for him next week. This will help him catch-up what he could have missed due to his one-day absence from school.
I look forward to your kind approval with respect to my request.
Yours faithfully,
Mike
