The table shows the number and type of medals won by the most winning ten countries at London 2012 Olympics. The best team, both in terms of total medal and gold ones, were the United States of America with respectively 104 and 46. The second country was China, with 88 total medals, followed by Great Britain with 65.
Out of the podium, with at least ten gold medals, there are Russia, South Korea, Germany and France. Exactly South Korea was the most effective country, because almost 50% of its medals derived from first placements. On the other hand, the less effective athletes were the Australian ones, gaining only 20% of gold medals upon a total of 35.
Concerning continents, even if the most represented is Europe with six countries, only one of them reached the podium. From this point of view the best continent was America, with one country at the top, followed by Asia with a second and fifth place.
