The figures reveal the percentage of student attendees in four categories of secondary school from 2000 until 2009. It is clearly seen that there was a decrease in the pupil attandance for all school types except for community school.
In 2000, voluntary-controlled schools had the highest percentage of students with 52%, while grammar schools had 24%, more than a half difference from the first type. After 5 years, the first school category declined by 12% and this continued until 2009 where it reached only 20%. The vocabulary schools also plummeted over the years and only 12% of the students attended at the last period. Subsequently, specialist schools followed the same pattern with 12% at the beginning and fell down 1% every 5 years.
Community schools however, started with one of the least preferred institutions with just over a tenth but as the years went by a huge increase was observed. It grew almost 2 folds by 2005 and rocketed after 5 years with 58% quadrupling its percentage on the first period.
