Although both the reading passage and listening passage deal with the same topic: teamwork, their perspective are different. While the author of the reading passage believes that team working has advantages to both the team and the members, the lecturer casts doubt on the writer’s idea. He thinks that teamwork is not beneficial as it may seem.
The first point made in the reading passage is that the team completes its work at fast rate. It is mentioned that there are wide range of knowledge, expertise, and skills in a team. Therefore, creative solutions to a problem or issues can be created in a minute. On the other hand, the lecturer contradicts the writer’s idea by asserting that teamwork slowdown the progress. He argues that the team must have many meetings and debates to reach to agreement in their work which waste a considerable amount of time.
Another point made in the reading passage is that member in a team is rewarded. The article notes that they feel more important in a team by creating a good idea leading to success. However, the lecturer refutes this argument and claims that the success is recognized by the whole team not a member in the team. Therefore, the real contributor cannot have the deserved rewarding.
The last point that the author made in the passage is that the success of the teamwork has far reaching and impact, as the whole team made effort to that work together. On the contrary, the lecturer claims that all the member of the team are responsible for their work. He puts forth his idea that if the work is failed, all member must take their account to what they have done that leads to the wrong decisions.
