The professor in the lecture does not agree with the ways to decrease salt level in The Salton Sea in California that provided by the reading, The professor tries to persuade his class that all these three solutions are unrealistic and not practical.
First, Regarding Using special desalination facilities, The lecture avers that this facilities will leave behind solid materials. These solid materials contain some chemical toxic materials. So, If wind spread these toxic materials in air, People will breath them. Therefore, It will increase health risks. This point directly refutes the point from the reading which states that we can use desalination facilities to remove salt from lake's water directly.
Second, According to dilution using ocean water, The speakers asserts that to deliver water from ocean, We need a lot of constructions but the local government does not have enough money. The shore line is 100 kilometers so, it is very expensive to build. Again, this point contradict the point from the passage which claims that the ocean water could be delivered through pipelines or canals.
Third, according to dividing the lake into several sections, The professor argues that this solution will not work for very long time. She says that the lake can face earth activities like earthquake. These earth activity could collapse the walls so, the water will go from special sections to main section. So, this point casts doubt the point from the reading because the reading says that we can construct walls to divide the lake into several sections. Therefore the small sections will have water with high salinity while the big section will have less salinity.
