The reading and the lecturer are both about the Pterosaurs which are cold-blooded animals. The author of the reading states that Paleontologists have wondered whether these Pterosaurs are capable of the powered flight and provides three reasons for support against Pterosaurs. However, the lecturer refutes each of the author's points by saying none of them are convincing.
Firstly, the article claims that powered fly will require a lot of energy where cold-blooded animals have low metabolism, and they cannot fly like warm-blooded animals. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this point by saying that Pterosaurs have hair and fur on their body which can control their temperatures like warm-blooded animals.
Secondly, the text conveys that Pterosaurs are very large and heavy animals like giraffe where they cannot flap their wings fast. However, the professor opposes this point by saying that Pterosaurs are very light animals which can fly for any length of time.
Thirdly, the article posits that to fly into the air animals should jump from their legs or run to gain speed just like birds. But Pterosaurs have very weak back leg muscles where these cannot fly. On the hand, the professor says that Pterosaurs uses all four limbs and they push off the ground. Hence, there is no trouble for them to fly into the air.
