According to the reading and the lecture, they both talk about ecocertification of wood. The author of the reading believes that this ecocertification will not be successful in the U.S.A. However, the lecture claims oppose to the author of the reading. He says that there are a lot of good reasons why America should pursue ecocertified products.
Primarily, the reading contends that American consumers are exposed to so much which results to consumers do not place beliefs in advertising nowadays. This point is challenged by the lecture. He claims that still many consumers trust in advertising,in addition consumers can distinguish the product with good quality.
Secondarily, the author of the reading states that ecocertified wood will be more expensive than uncertified ones. The reason is that the wood companies have to pay the money to ecocertification agency for their business. In addition, it said that the wood companies, in America, will prefer to keep the price of ecocertified wood lower than before. On the other hands, the professor said that people will buy the products eventhough it is more expensive which is ecocertified woods. Because people always want good products, that has good quality. Furthermore the difference of the price is not too much:which is only 5% more.
Finally, the author of the reading points out that this will not be successful internationally. There are not convincement in the arguement because pursuing certification would not make sense for American wood companies. American wood business sell most of their products only in their country. However, the lecture rebuts that many countries will be interested in ecocertification products; thus they might get this chance to have products that are eco friendly and steal this idea from the U.S
