These two diagrams illustrate the steps of chocolate making and the proportion of chocolate bar’s price for each stakeholder.
In chocolate-making process, cocoa is grinded to produce cocoa liquor and waste as a by-product. After that, the cocoa liquor is treated in two different methods to result two different commodities. It can be pressed to produce cocoa butter which is mixed with sugar, the cocoa liquor itself and other ingredients to produce industrial chocolate to be marketed as chocolate bar. While in another way, it is pressed to form cocoa powder for food industry.
