The passage explains that dinosaurs were endotherms who could maintain their temperature as per the environment. Whereas, the lecture illustrates the points that can challenge the reasonings of dinosaurs being endotherms. The lecture includes major three arguments to rule out the endothermy hypothesis of dinosaurs.
Firstly, from the fossils, it is clarified that the fossils are much warmer in present. Talking about the polar dinosaurs, they might migrate to some other places or hibernate all winter as other reptiles did. There is no evidence that they stayed active in such cold climate maintaining temperature above such surrounding. So, it cannot be proved that they were endotherms.
Secondly, in passage, it is explained how leg position and movement are related to endothermy. According to the passage, it is said that endothermy sustained for movement like running However, the lecture clarifies that the underneath position of legs on dinosaur 's body is to support its more weight like in crocodile. In the same way, underneath legs are more helpful for densely growing body of dinosaurs to shore up the entire body. Therefore, the theory on legs position and endothermy is ruled out.
Thirdly, apart from haversian canals, there were presence of growth rings too. Growing rings were thickening of bone when dinosaur stopped growing. This means they could grow rapidly sometimes, very slowly in cold and stop growing at times. This rules out the reasoning that bone structure, haversian canals enhanced rapid growth of dinosaurs.
