Additionally, the Norse are capable of traveling a long distance and brings something interesting back such as the silver coin, therefore this coin could be related to the Norse.
Secondly, the author mentions that no other coins were found in the Canadian sites, indicating that the coin could have no relationship with Norse. In Contrast, the professor indicates that since the Norse hardly build the permanent settlements and the Norse like to pack up every valuable things, they would also pack the silver coins. Therefore there is no wonder that no other coins were found in other sites.
Finally, the author points out that the Norse are experienced travelers who would know that the native North Americans would not recognize the silver as money, and thus Norse would not take it. Nevertheless, the professor refutes that the North know that native North Americans would attach importance to the silver coins for it's attractive appearance, and the locals could make the silver coin into the necklace or some jewelry because their beautiful shape and color. Therefore the Norse would use silver coin to trade with the native North Americans, answering why the Norse would carry silver coins.
