In view of the reading, the author enumerates the possibility of humpback whale's migration for long distances by using the star's navigation by pointing out 3 reasons for support. Finding the statements arguable, the lecturer casts doubt on the claim made by the article and presents a piece of evidence in contrary.
At first, the author argues that so genius are the hampback whales that could consider the ability of them to use star as a navigation tool. Not only are they so intelligence to do such this work but also they have such well-developed brain and abstract system of sensory which help them to have orientation in the night sky. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that there is no relation between intelligency and use the stars. The docks also have this feature and are not intelligent. This is just a feature they were born with it.
In addition, the reading passage holds the view that the humpback whale can migrate in straight lines by using some external object like stars. On the other hand, the lecturer disputes this point by clarifying the fact that there is a biomagnetic sensor in their brain and they use the magnetism feature of the earth. So, there is no connection between the ability of preserve movement in a straight and use the stars.
Finally, the author asserts spy-hopping behavior as an extraordinary behavior which the whales straight up their head above the water and look up as the last point for supporting the humpback navigation by using stars. The lecturer, though, dismisses it by saying that this behavior is weird but there is an animal called Shaves, do this strange work without any migration. They do it to look the other animals they want to hunt.
