In this set of material, the passage and the lecture offer two opposing points of view about the population reduction of the frogs. While the passage argues that there is a method to be recruited in order to cease this reduction and provides three methods, the lecture states these solutions cannot be considered as practical solutions and there are problems with each of them.
First, the passage asserts if law hinders the farmer from using pesticides near sensitive frog population, it would be a big step toward preserving frog population. In contrast, the passage throws down this statement by illustrating the point that this exercise is not economically practical and fair to the farmers owing to the fact that it would lead to a lower yield in comparison to other competition.
Second, the article declares by treating frogs and removing the fungus out of their skins, we can help them to live longer. Due to the fact that they absorb water from their skin, if we remove the fungus out of their skin, they would be able to live longer and that demonstrate the fact that the reduction can be ceased by this treatment. On the other hand, the speaker refutes this statement by pointing out this method is not practical because it should apply to every individual frog and that does not guarantee the elimination of this problem due to the fact that frogs pass these disease to their offsprings.
Finally, the author claims that by preserving frogs habitats which are lakes and marshes, we can recover the frog species. In order to achieve this goal, we have to protect these lands from excessive water use and draining of wetlands by humans. In contradict, the speaker rejects this remark and states that although it is important to preserve lakes and wetlands, the major cause that affects these lands is global warming, not human activities; hence, this solution is not practical just like the other two.
