The reading and the lecture are both about modern reptile which is endotherm animals. The author of the reading believes that dinosaurs were endotherm mammals. The lecture casts doubt on the claims made in the article. He thinks that these animals are not endotherm.
First of all, the author point out that fossil of the dinosaurs indicates they were living in polar region. It is mentioned that animals who maintain their body temperature could live in such area. This point challenged by lecturer. She says that presence of fossils in polar region does not mean that dinosaurs are endotherm. Furthermore, she argues because the polar region has both warm and cold environment. Thus, it proved they were not well to maintain their body temperature.
Secondly, the author contends that leg position and movement of dinosaurs also support that modern reptiles were endotherm. The article notes the legs of modern endotherm are underneath the body. The lecturer rebuts this argument. She suggests, the were not underneath of the bod, if so their height and weight would been more.
Finally, the author states that haversian canal in the bone structure of reptiles allow them to grow quickly. Th lecturer, on the other hand, posits that they have growth ring instead of haversian canal in their body structures for growing, which helped them to grow fast.
