Both the passage and the lecture discuss whether the dinosaurs were endotherms or not. The author of the passage believes that dinosaurs were endotherms like birds and mammals and provides some reasons. However, the professor in the lecture casts doubt on the passage and refutes all the reasons in the passage.
Firstly, the passage states that many fossils of dinosaurs found in the polar regions. Hence, they were capable to live there and their body temperature should have been stable and worm. Then, the author makes the point that therefore, they were endotherms. However, the professor casts doubt on this point and explains that at dinosaur's era, the polar regions were warmer than now. Also, they could be able to migrate in the cold months to the warmer lands.
Secondly, the passage acclaims that the position of the legs in dinosaurs show that they were able to run; hence, they should have been endotherm. On the other hand, the professor in the lecture opposes to this assertion and believes that the position of the legs in dinosaurs was for carrying their high weight, not for running.
Finally, the passage states that the body of the dinosaurs had Haversian canals which makes them grow rapidly; hence, they were endotherm. However, the professor illustrates that although they had Haversian canals, it is not related to fast growing. They had grown rings that caused to growing rapidly; also, their growth rate decreased in the cold months.
