Overall, conventional thermal plant generated the most electricity in Germany and renewable power station was the least segment. In contrast, nuclear plant was the most significant sector and the lowest energy was generated by conventional thermal in France.
In 2009, Germany and France produced electricity 560 and 510 billion kilowatts respectively. Traditional thermal station accounted for 59.6% in Germany, while about one tenth energy created by thermal plant in France. Rest of the electricity was generated by nuclear power station composed of 23% and renewable station which was 17.4% in Germany. In comparison, nuclear power comprised 76 % and renewable made 13.7% energy in France.
Regarding the renewable plant, biomass and wind were main sources in Germany, at 39.3% and 36.9 % correspondingly, while these plants were around 10% in France. Hydroelectric station generated approximately eight tenth of total renewable energy in France. However, it was only 17.7% in Germany and solar accounted for 6.1% but in France solar composed of 0.9% Both of these countries, geothermal plant did not produce any power.
