The both reading and the lecture discuss about the frog croak from the sea. The reading says that three theory about the bizarre sound. The lecture refutes these theory which introduced in the reading passage.
First of all, the reading states that the sound could be from Ocra whale because in order to attract the male whale the uses this kind of sound for matting and it is common for animal those lives in this area. However, the lecture refuses this view by saying that even though it makes this strange sound, it never lives in the deep sea area-they use to live surface water of the ocean. Moreover, it is easy to find out it's sound by sonar equipments.
Secondly, the passage claims that giant squids may be made this sound because it is invertebrate but it has ability and intelligence to produce such kind of sound. But, the professor opposes this point by stating that, In 1960 they sound has been produced and continued for few decade and stopped, then started on 1980. Further, he says that this creature still lives in this are and it is not disappear anymore. Why this intermittent sound appearance?.He raising the doubt.
Thirdly, reading suggests that some foreign country uses the new technology which cannot be detected by sonar system. Still, the speaker reputes this statement by explaining that in order to do so the marine ships must has ability to turn course of journey quickly which highly impossible. Plus, engine noise will be very sound, in addition to that, there is technology to keep engine silent so far.
To sum up, the reading suggests some theories such as Ocra whale use different sound to attract male, giant squids ability to make this distinctive sound and foreign country ship's new technology could the reason for this frog croak. But, the speaker refutes all these points by stating some evidences.
