The bar chart illustrated data on the proportion of US citizens living alone in 5 various age groups during the period from 1850 and 2000.
Overall, it is clear that there was a considerable increase in the rate of single state from 17 years old to 64 years old in the USA between 1850 and 2000. Also, The 55-64 age group was by far the most common age that people tend to live alone.
In 1850, there was only 3 age groups that do not like getting married: 37-46, 47-54 and 55-64. Approximately 3 percent of people in 55-64 age was the highest point. While, the proportion of US citizens living alone in other two groups was similar, about 2.5 percent.
From 1950 to 2000, there added two new age groups: 17-26 and 27-36. In both these five age groups, there was a rapid climb in the percentage of single people in 2000. The 55-64 age group always made up the highest rate, approximately 17 percent. While, four other groups that went up quickly are not as high as 55-64 age group in the year 2000, with about 5 percent of 17-26 age, exactly 8 percent of 27-36 age, approximately 7 percent of 37-46 age and over 13 percent of 47-54 age.
