To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities.
One need not study only the major cities to understand the characteristics of a society it is always dependent on both the type of cities. The main thing is characteristics of a society are assessed by studying various types of people in that society mere study of major cities doesn’t give a clear cut description.
Some type of characteristics are more common to particular types of areas. For instance if we want to know about the software growth in an area we have to go to the area where IT sector is developed and get to know of it. Generally major sectors are common in the urban areas and large cities. So it is necessary to study the major cities.
If need to know about the agricultural sector of an economy we should study the rural areas, type of methods they are following, their yield per acre and all. In this case we should study the rural areas.
Moreover we need to study every-type of area in some cases for example to study the position of education in a country we have to study both rural and urban areas to know it explicitly. Furthermore to study the various cultures and traditions in a country we have more clear idea of all the types people dwelling in different parts of the nations. Therefore not only major cities but also the other cities should be considered in understanding characteristics of a society.
