The reading and lecture both discuss the hypothesis of edmontosaurs migration. While the reading states three claims to support the dinosaurs migration to south, the professor refutes that, saying none of these claims are convincing.
Firstly, the reading mentions that edmontosaurs migrated to the south to find food. This is because they could not find food in the winter on the north slope. However, the professor argues this notion saying that edmontosaurs do not have to migrate to find food. Moreover, there was warmer climate on the north slope and the sunshine was for tweenty four hours. So, the extreme day light gave chance for palnts to grow. As a result, these animals can find food at winter period.
In addition, the article avers that the skeletons that found in that area shows that these edmontosaurs were live in herds and the most modern animals are living in herds too. On the other hand, the professor rejects this idea by explaining that living in herds does not mean that they migrate. Furthermore, they might live in herds for protection from preditors. For instance, rosevilles that live in United States are living in herds, but they do not migrate. So, living in herds does not grante the migration pattern.
Lastly, the articles mentions that the edmontosaurs can migrate for long distance. Nevertheless, the professor argues this point by pointing out that the adult animlas can migrtae for long distance, but the small one could not do that. Moreover, the endomotosaurs have young junville that could not migrate for long distance. As a result, these animals could not travel alone and leave their young junville. Consequently, they have to stay with the their young juniville and survive together.
